Cable Reshielding Kit (15-35kV)

The Raychem RSK kits reshield and seal the exposed cable insulation when converting an existing cable from live front to dead front construction. This eliminates replacing the cable run or splicing in a new piece of cable. These heat-shrinkable kits accommodate cables from 15-35kV.

The RSK reshielding kit consists of a conductive heat-shrinkable tube, stress relief material and high voltage, nontracking sealant. It has been designed to replace up to 21 inches of the original cable shielding with a conductive layer thickness in accordance to AEIC standards. It is also a completely sealed system as the stress relief material provides not only stress control but an internal seal, while the high voltage sealant delivers the primary seal between the conductive tubing and cable semi-con.

The kit is easy and fast to install. After wrapping the stress relief material at the semi-con cutback and the sealant on the cable semi-con, place the conductive tube on the cable and shrink in place.

All RSK kit components have extensive service history in MIND paper cable terminations up to 35kV as the insulation shield, and on PILC and trifurcating transition joints up to 25kV. In addition, these components have been fully tested in Raychem high voltage splices.
